Three routes in
Most people take one of three routes or combine them: vocational or university education in cosmetology, courses in specific treatments, and practice under an experienced professional. Education gives a broad base, courses give concrete skills, practice gives fluency.
Diploma versus course certificate
A diploma from a school or university is an educational document. A certificate from a private academy, including OG Academy, confirms completion of a specific program, its topic and hours. It is not a state diploma or a medical licence and does not replace education.
Can you work without a diploma
It depends on the type of service and on the rules in force, which change. Treatments of a medical nature, such as injectables, require medical qualifications. Where the line falls for energy-based treatments such as laser or HIFU is a matter of ongoing discussion, so check the current requirements before launching a service rather than relying on hearsay.
Where to begin in beauty-equipment practice
Choose one technology — usually the one your clients ask for, such as laser hair removal or IPL/BBL. Start with a course that teaches client qualification, parameter logic and safety, not just operating the device, and that includes supervised practice on models.
Practical formalities
You typically need a registered business (CEIDG), premises that meet hygiene and sanitary requirements, liability insurance (OC), client consents that respect GDPR, and treatment documentation. The details depend on the services — verify them with the sanitary inspectorate (sanepid) and your insurer.
For international participants
We teach in English, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian, so language need not be a barrier during training. If you come from outside Poland, check separately your right to stay and work and how qualifications are recognised.
Choosing a first course
Ask about hours of practice and number of models, whether you work independently, what written materials you receive, who teaches and what support follows the course. Get the program and price in writing before paying.
